Old Music Tuesday: Independent Women

AKA check out these positive role models who tend to send an awesome message with their music as opposed to every other song (see previous post).

Beyonce - Run The World (Girls): (Can't figure out how to get the little thingy on the 'e')  By the look of things we do not appear to be running the world, but it is still awesome.  And B is always ready to be the poster gal for strong and independent women (Yes you can be independent with a man).

Destiny's Child - Independent Women (Part I): SPEAKING OF INDEPENDENT WOMEN!  Probably could make this whole post with Beyonce and Destiny's Child jams.

Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You): Kelly Clarkson is another Miss Independent (HAH get it?).  She could also have her own post of kickass I don't need to have someone to be someone-songs.

Queen Latifah - U.N.I.T.Y. :  This is what inspired this post in the first place because this song is THAT awesome.  Especially in a genre that tends to be so negative towards women.  Queen Latifah is also one of the most famous normal sized model, actress, etc.

Aretha Franklin - Respect: It's all I'm asking.  Although originally written and performed by Otis Redding, it takes on a whole new meaning backed by a powerful female voice.

I'm a very independent woman. - Faith Hill
