Old Music Tuesday: Independent Women

AKA check out these positive role models who tend to send an awesome message with their music as opposed to every other song (see previous post).

Beyonce - Run The World (Girls): (Can't figure out how to get the little thingy on the 'e')  By the look of things we do not appear to be running the world, but it is still awesome.  And B is always ready to be the poster gal for strong and independent women (Yes you can be independent with a man).

Destiny's Child - Independent Women (Part I): SPEAKING OF INDEPENDENT WOMEN!  Probably could make this whole post with Beyonce and Destiny's Child jams.

Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You): Kelly Clarkson is another Miss Independent (HAH get it?).  She could also have her own post of kickass I don't need to have someone to be someone-songs.

Queen Latifah - U.N.I.T.Y. :  This is what inspired this post in the first place because this song is THAT awesome.  Especially in a genre that tends to be so negative towards women.  Queen Latifah is also one of the most famous normal sized model, actress, etc.

Aretha Franklin - Respect: It's all I'm asking.  Although originally written and performed by Otis Redding, it takes on a whole new meaning backed by a powerful female voice.

I'm a very independent woman. - Faith Hill

Old Music Tuesday: Valentine's Edition

Songs not to make love to...please, please don't.

Ginuwine - Pony: I never thought of horseback riding as being a sexy metaphor...oh yeah and I still don't.  This is icky.

50 Cent - Just a Lil Bit: Really, is that all you need?  PS I miss the days of hip hop music videos that tell elaborate stories (remember Ja Rule and Ashanti??).

Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up: If you are trying to get in the mood...DO NOT LOOK AT THE GUYS IN THIS MUSIC VIDEO.

Ludacris - What's Your Fantasy: Stay the hell away from my toes...gross!  I do appreciate asking what the woman actually wants unlike most of these fools, but still this song feels more like a joke than an invitation.

Cam'ron - Hey Ma: Nothing is more romantic than saying what up, let's do it.

Now for a great song by some ladies...not to get it on to but maybe it could be of some help...
Salt N Pepa - Let's Talk About Sex

Don't have sex man.  It leads to kissing and pretty soon you have to start talking to them. -Steve Martin
